Founded

101 Years ago

Founded in 1924 by Dr. Junjiro Takakusu, an international Buddhist scholar, Musashino University celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024.
With the ideal of character development rooted in the Buddhist spirit, he advocated the need for women's education and the advancement of women in society before World War II, and Musashino Joshi Gakuin was born to embody this ideal.
After becoming a coeducational institution in 2004, the university has promoted university reforms and developed into a comprehensive university with 13 faculties, 21 departments, 13 graduate schools, and a School of Distance Learning, and continues to evolve for the next 100 years.

Musashino University has agreements with 106 universities in 28 countries around the world. FacultyApproximately one out of every 17 students at Musashino University takes up the challenge of studying abroad. 4 semesters have been introduced and the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students by offering a full range of study abroad programs, including local/online, long-term/short-term, and more.
